Blueberry Scones

I made these scones a couple months back and they were VERY good.  I really wanted to post the recipe even though I don't have a picture.

INGREDIENTS:
2 c flour
1/2 c sugar
2 t baking powder
1/4 t salt
1/4 t baking soda
1 stick butter, cold, cut into 1/2 inch cubes
1/2 pint fresh blueberries
3/4 cup plain yogurt (or sour cream)

GLAZE:
2 T half & half
Confectioner's sugar

Preheat oven to 425 degrees.

In a mixing bowl, stir together dry ingredients. With a pastry cutter cut in butter until mixture gets crumbly.  You can use 2 knives if you don't have a pastry cutter but I thought that was ridiculously hard and bought a pastry cutter the next day.

Stir/fold in yogurt (or sour cream; they both work fine) until you can form the dough into a ball.

Turn dough onto floured surface and with floured hands, knead a few times as well as you can.  The dough will be kind of sticky.  Form a log with the dough and cut it in half, longwise (like you are making a sandwich).  Press blueberries all along the middle of the dough.  Put the two halves back together.  Continue pressing blueberries along the outside of the log as well.  Once everything is back together, flatten the log a bit until it is in more of a rectangle shape.  Using a bench scraper, cut the log into triangles.

Bake on a cookie sheet until golden, about 15 minutes. Remove to rack to cool.

While that is baking, whisk together some confectioner's sugar and the half & half, adding more sugar until desired consistency is reached.

Drizzle over the scones while warm.

VERDICT:
These are fantastic and you can definitely substitute any kind of berry.  I never had a real scone before so I'm not sure if they are supposed to be that sweet but they are so darn good that I have no desire to cut back on the sugar.  At all.  Try these!  You won't be disappointed!
